Durante la década de los 60, existia un intenso frenesí demostrado especialmente por los jóvenes adolescentes dirigido a   "the beatles"

La beatlemanía fue fenomeno que se dió en todo el mundo a partir de la llegada de Los Beatles; con ellos la juventud de los 60s rompieron el modelo tradicional y conservador que había existido hasta finales de los 50s en cuanto a diversión, tipo de música, baile, etc.
Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Bill Halley, son algunos de los iniciadores de lo que hoy llamamos Rock and Roll, los Beatles tuvieron mucha inlfuencia de ellos. La beatlemanía se extiende al mundo cuando ellos hacen su primer visita a EEUU, a ellos ya les precedía la fama pero con su primer presentación en norteamérica se difunde todo el mundo su música, entonces todos quieren vestirse como ellos, todos quieren cortarse el pelo como ellos, todos quieren ser como ellos y tener algo que les identifique de igual forma.
La beatlemanía genera que surgan nuevos grupos los cuales siguen el mismo estilo que los Beatles, la pelicula A hard days nigth muestra escenas de lo que significaba ser un beatle huyendo de los fans, el concierto en Shea Steadium muestra a los fans conmocionados por escuchar a Los Beatles y a un Lennon hablando incoherencias porque era tal el bullicio del público que no importaba si cantaban bien o mal sin estar en el lugar con el grupo más famoso del momento.
